OBITUARY

LADY MURIEL PAGET LONDON, June 16. The death is announced of Lady Muriel Paget, wife of Sir Richard Paget, of whom mention was made in the Soviet trials on March 9. She was described by the Soviet prosecutor as a member of the British Intelligence Department, but this Lady Muriel, who was notable for her philanthropic work, denied. Her work, she declared, had nothing to do with political questions. It was concerned with the care of British subjects in Russia. MR HERBERT SMITH (Received June 17, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 16. The death is announced of Mr Herbert Smith, president of the Yorkshire Mine Workers’ Union.
