“INSULATION”
To The Editor
Sir, —Mr Savage and his colleagues say they can insulate New Zealand against the effects of a depression. Do people really realize what a wonderful formula they have discovered if they can do this. It is a secret that the whole world craves. What would President Roosevelt give for it today? May I suggest that we stand in with your correspondent A. A. de Vantier (who appears to be the first local convert to see the possibilities), and by combining, endeavour to persuade Mr Savage not to hold on to the secret any longer but to give it to the whole world now, so that eveiy country can insulate against depressions. It would stop wars. It would even stop Britain giving us a poor price for our produce some seasons; and the farmers here and the people of the world would sing the praises of Michael Joseph Savage. —Yours, etc., THE GREAT DISCOVERER. June 16, 1938.
