MRS E. J. RIDDIFORD DIES FROM INJURIES • (United Press Association) 1 WELLINGTON, June 14. Fatal head injuries were suffered by ! Mrs Eleanor Caroline Riddiford, widow ! of Mr E. J. Riddiford, when she was I knocked down by a van while crossing the road to her home at Lower Hutt h about 5.40 o’clock this evening. Mrs . Riddiford was unconscious when she was picked up and died at her home ’ two hours later without regaining consciousness. Mrs Riddiford, who was the daughter ‘ of an early Wellington pioneer, Mr E Henry Bunny, former Deputy-Super- : intendent of Wellington province, was i bom in 1861. She was married in 1879 : and with the exception of a few years ' in England lived all her. life at Lower b Hutt. Mrs Riddiford was well known } for her acts of charity. During the 1 war she did great service at Walton-on-j Thames, London. 1 Mrs Riddiford is survived by her ’ brother, Mr E. P. Bunny, of Lower ‘ Hutt, and an adult family of five, Mrs ' Lindsay, .Scotland, Mr Daniel Riddiford, Featherston, Mr Eric Riddiford, > Orongo-Orongo, Mrs Liddiard, England, • and Mrs Dudley Kettle, Napier Two ’ sons Mr Vivian Riddiford and Mr • Lionel Riddiford, predeceased her. . MAN FALLS AND BREAKS t RIB Slipping on the rails while walking k along the ferry wharf, y ilh , am . Campbell, of Bluff, fell and suffered a broken rib. He was proceeding to the St. John Ambulance Association s > rooms on the wharf when the accident 5 occurred. He was given treatment at : the rooms and was later attended by Dr A. R. Ross. _
