MR N. HERRESHOFF NEW YORK, June 3. The death has occurred of Mr Nathaniel Herreshoff, aged 90, builder of many defenders of the America’s Cup. SIR EDWARD DENHAM ■■ JAMAICA, June 3. The death has occurred of Sir Edward Denham, Governor-General of Jamaica. . MR RUPERT 7 L. HARTY (Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, June 3. The linesman, Rupert Leslie Harty, who was electrocuted by accidentally touching a high power cable at Blenheim on Tuesday, was formerly a wellknown Rugby player. When the first Springbok team visited New Zealand in 1921 he was a representative of the King Country team which met the South Africans at Hamilton.
Born in Wellington 42 years ago, Mr Harty was a son of the late Mr J. K. Harty and Mrs A. C. Harty, who is now a resident of Devonport. For a number of years he was engaged in sheep farming, with his brother, Mr W. R. Harty, on Honikiwi, 15 miles west of Otorohanga. His brother still farms the property there, while two other brothers, who were also prominent sportsmen, also survive him—Dr E. R. Harty, of Dunedin, and Mr L. P. Harty, of Taumarunui.
