GOLF CLUB ALTERATIONS TO RULES At a meeting of the committee of the Winton Golf Club it was decided that a silver button should be presented to the winner of the monthly medal, match and that a special entry fee of 6d be charged. , The following alterations were made to the rules:—(l) Ball lying agamst boundary fence may be lifted out, but no nearer the hole, for a penalty of one stroke instead of two; (2) ball lying on ploughed area to be played from where it lies; (3) ball lying in or under maple trees in the eighth fairway must be played from where it lies. It was reported that the ball box had been broken open with an axe during the week-end. It was decided to enter a challenge for the Laing Shield, and it was also agreed to invite the Queen’s Park Club to Winton. The women’s foursome match resulted as follows;— Mrs H. Denny and Mrs T. W. Brandford, 56-15-41; Mrs W. Clark and Miss Mclndoe 54-12-42; Mrs W. Balch and Mrs M. Reilly, 60-18-42; Mrs R. King and Miss J. Homer, 60-18-42. In the first Top Dog challenge the holders, Mrs G. King and Miss G. Homer were beaten by Mrs O. A. B. Smith and Mrs H. Denny, 4 and 2. A bogey match will be played by the women on Wednesday for Mr T. W. Brandford’s trophy. The draw is as follows:— First division, —Miss G. Homer v. Mrs W. Balch; Miss I. Shand v. Mrs G. King; Miss J. Homer v. Mrs T. W. Brandford; Mrs R. King v. Mrs O. A. B. Smith; Mrs J. Kilby v. Mrs W. Clark. Second division. —Mrs M. Kean v. Miss D. Olive; Miss J. Shaw v. Mrs R. Swale; Miss T. Clark v. Mrs F. Moore; Mrs H. Denny v. Miss M. Norman; Mrs R. Shand v. Mrs M. Reilly; Mrs A. Gerrard v. Miss Mclndoe. The men will play a medal match tomorrow. It has been decided by the committee that because of the big number taking part in the men’s matches that two pairs will go out together to relieve any congestion on the links. The draw is as follows:—
