EMPIRE CO-ORDINATION
To The Editor
Sir,—l must thank you for the very full and accurate report of our meeting at Edendale. There is, however, one point I made to which I should like to draw attention. I am not one who believes that New Zealand can insulate herself from the rest of the world; but I am firmly convinced that our Empire can do so. We should frame our policies to bring about closer co-operation and co-ordination between the various units of our great commonwealth. This co-ordination can be widened to include kindred nations.
In these times of dictatorships with their policies of extreme nationalism, it is comforting to note the drawing together of the democracies and it is in and through such a policy of mutual understanding and goodwill that we can show the way back to sanity, security and peace.—Yours, etc., B. CLEARWATER. Mokotua, May 17, 1938.
