FRENCH DEFENCE LOAN OVER-SUBSCRIBED
FIGHTING AEROPLANES FROM AMERICA PARIS, May 16. Wireless talks, tricoloured posters and army aeroplanes trailing banners exhorted the people to subscribe to the defence loan of £28,000,000. One hundred franc bonds were issued to enable the humblest to subscribe. The loan was over-subscribed. The Paris correspondent of The Daily Mail says that the Minister for Air (M. Lachambre) announced that the French Government had purchased 10? r fighting aeroplanes from the United States after obtaining the consent of the President (Mr Franklin D. Roosevelt),
