Mr Charles Begg is at present visiting Invercargill. Mr E. C. Riley left yesterday by car for Dunedin on a short business trip. Mr M. R. Tennet, dairy produce grader at Bluff, left yesterday to attend the Waikato Winter Show at Hamilton.

Mr Frank Booth, who has been on a business visit to Dunedin, returned to Invercargill by the express last evening.

Mr David C. Legat has been elected chairman of the West Winton River Board and the Winton River Board. Mr G. C. Alington, who has been granted a short-service commission in the Royal Air Force, will leave by the express this morning for Wellington to join the Arawa, which sails for Southampton on Saturday. Mr J. A. McLean was re-elected chairman of the North Auckland Electric Power Board by a unanimous vote. Mr McLean has been chairman since 1924 and a member since 1916.—Press Association.
