FURNISHING HINT
NEW LOOSE COVERS When you get new loose covers for ■ easy chairs allow a little extra material i and you can make a great saving in ; money and trouble. ’ The seats are the first parts to get • dirty and crumpled. It is well worth s while, therefore, to have an extra piece ’ the same width as the seat and about • six inches longer. Fasten it neatly in front with patent fasteners, and push the other end down between the seat and the back of the chair. Being a , straight piece of cloth, it is easily re- ' moved and laundered without the ex- • pense and trouble of having the whole ‘ loose cover taken off for cleaning. ’ For two good reasons, plain material in a strong shade is most economical. I No cloth is wasted in the cutting, as it always must be when there are stripes ’ in a pattern which must meet neatly, or parrots which must ..ot be deft stand- ’ ing on their heads. And little mats of ' lace or boldly embroidered crash for ’ the back and arms look well on a plain ’ background, but not on a patterned loose . cover, which consequently has to j cleaned far more frequently.
