' Tonight will be the fifth night at the Fire Station and completes the series. The school holidays intervene for the next two weeks, A “refresher” night will be held on May 25 and the examination will take place the following Wednesday. A SUGGESTION MADE

There has been a marked increase in the Tast year or so in the number of brigade buttonhole badges to be seen in the streets. In many cities it is unusual not to meet several during half-an-hour’s walk, and in an increasing number of places the sight of a boy in the brigade uniform is so familiar today as to attract no special attention. Let it be remembered that the member who, from a false sense of modesty, shirks being under the public gaze and hides his uniform is letting down his pals. Always wear your uniform, going to and from parade, and let people see that the brigade is very much alive in your own town. Many churches have no provision of any kind for then’ older boys. They have tried various methods of holding the interest of boys and are disappointed with the results. To all these we give the advice to try the brigade way. A booklet entitled “On Starting a Company” is available for the information and guidance of those considering the formation of a company of the Boys’ Brigade. This booklet may be obtained free from brigade headquarters by anyone interested. A good start means a great deal, and if the advice given in this leaflet is followed, success will be assured, and the boy problem in your church. will be solved. A postcard to the battalion secretary, 5 Dublin street, Invercargill, will secure your copy. A good staff of officers is essential to the success of a company. The leaflet “A Man’s Job,” gives anyone without previous experience some idea of the nature of the task. Copies of this may also be had free of charge.
