ASSISTANCE GIVEN FROM AIR

RELIEF METHODS PROVE SUCCESSFUL (United Press Association) HASTINGS, May 3. Aerial relief methods are proving an outstanding success in satisfying the urgent demands of flood sufferers in the isolated areas of Hawke’s Bay. Reports shovz that the system of transmitting messages by ground signs has been effective and daily surveys by the Baffin Government aeroplane and by machines from the Hawke’s Bay-East Coast Aero Club and by private aeroplanes are resutling in the relief of isolated distressed families. Considerable service has been given by the members and ground staff of the Aero Club and by private owners of machines and a very wide field has been covered. The logs show that so far 6000 miles have been covered in aerial relief work.
