JEWELLER’S WINDOW SMASHED

ONE WATCH TAKEN (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 2. Half a brick wrapped in brown paper was used late last night to smash the main display window of the jeweller’s shop of Ernest McFeat in Karangahape road, Newton. The window contained diamond signet rings and other jewellery valued at £4OO but Mr McFeat stated today that so far he had only missed a woman’s gold bracelet watch valued at £3 10/-. The noise attracted the notice of a neighbour and a passing motorist. A middle-aged man with his right wrist deeply cut was found near the shop and taken to hospital, being accompanied by a constable. The arteries and sinews of his hand were severed.
