LABOUR CANDIDATES APPROVED
SITTING PARTY MEMBERS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 15. The National Executive of the Labour Party has endorsed the following sitting members as candidates for the electorates named:— z Napier.—The Speaker (the Hon. W. E. Barnard). Avon.—The Minister of Railways (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan). Christchurch East.—The Minister of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong). Dunedin South. —The PostmasterGeneral (the Hon. F. Jones). Dunedin Central.—Mr P. Neilson. Dunedin North.—Mr J. W. Munro. Christchurch South.—Mr E. J Howard. ’ Kaiapoi.—Mr C. Morgan Williams. Lyttelton.—Mr T. H. McCombs. Mr Robert Macfarlane, secretary of the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee, who was unanimously nominated, was confirmed as the candidate to contest Riccarton. He opposed Mr S. G. Holland (Christchurch North) at the last election. dr McMillan’s name not ON LIST REFUSAL TO COMMENT ON REPORT OF RETIREMENT (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 15. When the attention of Dr D. G. McMillan, M.P. for Dunedin West, was drawn to the fact that although three sitting members in Dunedin were nominated again by the National Executive of the Labour Party to contest the forthcoming elections, his name was not included in the list, he stated that he had not yet completely recovered from a recent severe illness. He declined to make any comment on a report that he does not intend to contest the Dunedin West seat at the next elections. NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR WAIPAWA (United Prejs Association) HASTINGS, March 15. _ By the unanimous vote of the Wai~ pawa National Party Electoral Committee, Mr Albert Edward Jull was selected as the party’s candidate for _ the Waipawa seat at the general election.
