LODGE MEETING
ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS There was a fair attendance of members of Court Star of the South at a meeting presided aver by C.R. Bro. S. Burns. A motion of condolence with P.C.R. Bro. Kerr, of Court Southern, in the death of his daughter was passed. An invitation was accepted from Court Southern to play cards at its next meeting. The resignation of P.C.R. Bro. Horan, who has been transferred to Dunedin was received. P.C.R. Bro. A. St. C. Macgregor, in moving that Bro. Horan’s resignation as treasurer be accepted with regret referred to his services to the court. P.C.R. Bro. Dalton seconded the motion. P.C.R. Bro. Leek, court secretary, stated that he had closely associated with Bro. Horan in the court’s work and regretted that the court was losing such an able officer. P.C.R. Bro. J. Holland P.C.R. Bro. W. Checketts, P.C.R. Bro. A. Thomson and Bro. Macgregor also spoke. P.C.R. Bro. Feaver, of Court Southern, and P.C.R, Bro. Bridges, also expressed regret at the loss to forestry in Southland by Bro. Horan’s departure. Bro. Horan, in reply, thanked the brothers for their remarks and declared that anything he had been able to do for the court was a pleasure, and he had made a hobby of it His. best reward was the joy he received in the many friends he had been able to make and the thought that he might be of some help to others. S.C.R. Bro. Patton proposed the toast of “the visitors,” which was responded to on behalf of Court Queen, by Sister Bishop and on behalf of Court Southern by P.C.R. Bro. Feaver. P.C.R. Bro. V. Edge was elected to the dispensary committee in place of Bro. Horan.
