Beauty Culture For The Feet

USEFUL EXERCISES Swollen ankles and feet may be due to several causes, and in severe cases medical advice should be obtained, but the average foot and leg can be kept trim with simple exercises. 1. Cross the legs, so that the foot and ankle hang free and unrestricted. Point the toe down, inwards and up in a semi-rotary motion. Repeat as often as possible without incurring fatigue. 2. Both feet flat on the floor. Slip a pencil under the toes of each foot in turn and attempt to pick it up, keeping the toes close together. Bad circulation can be helped by regular massage, with firm upward strokes toward the knees. This should improve both the contour and the colour of the feet. Skin blemishes, however, are difficult to conceal. Moreover, they frequently arise from neglect, for we are apt to forget that hot fires and biting wind, not to mention injudicious sun-bathing, will injure any delicate skin surface. In winter, dry skin should be specially treated with a light feeding cream. Work it in thoroughly with an upward movement and finish off with an absorbent tissue. For summer days, apply almond oil, or a good bronzing oil in good time! Where the damage is serious, a powder-cream evenly distributed followed by a dusting of talc powder and a careful “finishing” off with tissue, will permit the wearing of the sheerest evening stockings.
