INCREASE IN BRITISH DAIRYING URGED

MR BRUCE ADVOCATES GREATER MILK CONSUMPTION

(Received February 18, 6.30 p.m.)

LONDON, February 17.

The Australian High Commissioner in London (Mr S. M. Bruce), speaking at a dinner held by the Provision Exchange, advocated greater consumption of milk, the extension of British grass lands and an increase in the cow population of 60 per cent. Britain, he said, should enunciate a more definite agricultural policy for the enlightenment of the Dominions and foreigners. It should be based on the great natural advantage of the best grass lands in Europe. A trade agreement between Britain and the United States would be a great forward step towards a solution of the world’s problems.
