Making water still wetter by the addition of a synthetic alcohol made from waste gases from oil wells is a recent scientific accomplishment of interest to motorists, according to papers read at a meeting of the American Chemical society a few weeks ago. The alcohol gives the water the power of soaking almost instantly whatever it touches. This wetter water will be useful, it is said, in laying highway dust.
