Proof that men are better drivers than women was contained in an announcement made recently by the National Safety Council in America. A survey of 10,000 persons between the ages of 20 and 40 years in 35 American cities revealed that the average wheel grip of male drivers measured 1141 b against 631 b for women. Men could withstand 58 units of light, whereas women could withstand only 55.1, and could recover in 5.555ec from glare which blinded women for 7.475ec. Other tests indicated that men generally had quicker reactions, better hearing, better concentration when at the wheel, although women drove more slowly, distinguished colours better and had better vision from the comer of the eye.
