NEW ZEALAND DINGHY WINS AUSTRALIAN TITLE (Received February 16, 11.30 p.m.) HOBART, February 16. By ‘winning the second successive heat on the Derwent river the New Zealand representative, Vamp, won the 14ft dinghy championship of Australia today. Conditions were ideal, with a steady sea breeze. Triad (Victoria) led the first time round but Vamp, skilfully sailed, soon overhauled the leader and crossed the line 3min 12sec ahead. Windward (Western Australia) was third, followed by Chum and Silver Spray (South Australia), Volant and Roxana (Victoria), Impudence (New Zealand), White Wings (Victoria) and Comedy (Western Australia). Impudence was nearly 12min behind Vamp in eighth place.

The points were: Vamp 14, Triad 3, Impudence 3, Windward 1, Myrtle 1. The third heat will not be sailed.

The Dinghy Council of Australia has decided that New Zealand is eligible to compete in the Australian championship but the races must be sailed in Australia.
