PERSONAL

The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb), who has been visiting Invercargill, will leave this morning for Ohai. He will later visit Nightcaps, where he will deliver a public address this evening. Mr Webb will proceed to Queenstown and Central Otago tomorrow.

Dr John Hammond, of Cambridge University, will arrive in Invercargill on Friday. In the evening he will address a meeting of farmers on breeding and feeding. Archdeacon J. A. Lush returned to Invercargill last evening after a holiday spent in. Christchurch and Wellington. Mr J. T. Paterson, who has been a member of the staff of the Invercargill branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company for the past six years, and who has resigned to join the firm of Mabson, Nicholson and Company, as insurance manager, was met by the staff on Tuesday, when a presentation was made to him by the manager, Mr S. F. Williams.

Mr H. P. Hopkins, Dominion manager of the Royal Insurance Company, is retiring from February 28 and his place will be filled by Mr H. G. Wiley, New Zealand manager of the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Company.—Press Association. Mr J. Swift, of the Invercargill Fire Brigade, left on Tuesday for New Plymouth, as a delegate to the Fire Brigades’ conference.
