An order has been issued by the Japanese Government instructing people to practise economy in the consumption of wool, cotton and wood. There will be no restriction on the use of these materials for making articles for export, but the Government desires to control internal consumption. The order emphasizes that the restrictions are only temporary, are “taken on the basis of serious national necessity,” and will be removed as soon as possible when “the present affair” comes to an end.
