ELECTION OF SENATE’S COMMITTEES (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 13. The annual'meeting of the Senate of the University of New Zealand opened this morning, the Chancellor, the Hon. J. A. Hanan, presiding. The first session was devoted to the Chancellor s address and the appointment of committees. . . The finance committee is to consist of the Chancellor, the pro-chancellor, the vice-chancellor, Professor von Zedlitz, Messrs P. Levi, L. D. Ritchie, HD. Acland, H. D. Mahon, and G. J. Smith. . . . The committee for the appointment of professors of the university was elected as follows: Chancellor, prochancellor, vice-chancellor, and Messrs H. J. Morrell, H. D. Acland, P. Levi, H. D. Mahon and N. Francis. Professor Segar and Mr J. V. Mackay were appointed representatives of the Senate on the Auckland Grammar Schools Board. The vice-chancellor was appointed as an examiner for the Arnold Atkinson prize in place of the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, who was unable to act, the other examiners being Professor J. Hight and Mr W. J. Morrell. The Senate passed a resolution paying tribute to the great services to science of Lord Rutherford.
