DEATH OF CONSTABLE IN DUNEDIN

REMAND GRANTED IN CHARGE OF ASSAULT AND MANSLAUGHTER (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 12. John Edward McElroy, aged 45, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with on December 25 assaulting Constable James Butler and, further with killing Constable Butler, thereby committing manslaughter. He was remanded to January 20. Constable Butler died in hospital on January 2 from injuries.
