POISONOUS FOG FROM BLAST FURNACES

WORKER KILLED AND 20 INJURED BRUSSELS, December 27. One worker is dead and 20 are injured as the result, it is believed, of a poisonous fog from blast furnaces at a smelting works near Charleroi. A thick fog hanging over the district, it is believed, prevented the escape of noxious gases from the smoke stacks. The tragedy recalls a similar disaster in 1930, in which 70 men perished.
