THE WEATHER FAIR TO FINE AND COOLER TEMPERATURES

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 28. Following is the official weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate south-east to easterly winds. Weather cloudy on parts of the coast, with misty rain at times, but for the most part fair to fine. Temperatures cooler. Seas light to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast: — Weather cloudy to overcast over the South Island, with scattered showers or misty rain, but soon improving on the west coast, fine at first over the North Island, but clouding over later in eastern and far northern districts, and some misty rain developing. Temperatures becoming cooler. General Situation.—The pressure remains rather uniform over the Tasman and New Zealand area, but a slight disturbance has been crossing the South Island. A tropical cyclone is developing in the New Hebrides and moving southward. Winds.—Light to moderate and variable westerlies predominating at first in central areas and southerlies in the southern portion of the South Island, southerlies or south-easterlies gradually becoming fairly general and freshening in the far north. , Seas.—New Zealand waters, slight to moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, light to moderate south-east to easterly winds, seas slight to moderate.
