“The Footloose Heiress,” a gay comedy about a rich girl who had more money than she needed, and became snobbish on that account, will be shown on Friday in a double feature programme at the ’ Majestic Theatre. Kay Allyn (Ann Sheridan), is racing to an elopement with her father (Hugh O’Connell) in pursuit. At a railroad crossing a happy-go-lucky tramp (Craig Reynolds) offers to help Mr Allyn overtake the fleeing couple. They catch up with Kay and her would-be groom at the minister’s house and Butch, the tramp, breaks up the ceremony.. Thereafter he and Mr Allyn are friends. Kay, enraged, tries to make a laughing stock of Butch, who turns out to be the son of a rich advertising executive himself, by pretending she is in love with him. Butch sees through her scheme but when she tries to leave, she realizes that she is really in love and follows him to a happy ending. Directed by William Clemens. A Warner Bros. Picture.
