JEWISH OMNIBUS UNDER FIRE
FIFTH ARAB ATTACK IN THREE DAYS
MURDER OF NEW ZEALAND WOMAN x (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received December 27, 7.50 p.m.) JERUSALEM, December 26. For the fifth time in three days terrorists fired on a Jewish omnibus between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, wounding the driver and a passenger. Lieutenant Mountain, of the Ist Border Regiment, who was wounded in the fighting against Arab rebels in the hills of Galilee yesterday died today. Private Creasey, of the North Staffordshire Regiment, also died of wounds. Two troopers and one airman were wounded, and 45 Arabs were killed or died of wounds. Mrs Hannah Lewis, aged 70, was found murdered at her house in Tel Aviv, and her husband, Samuel Lewis, had been seriously injured. Both had been clubbed. It is believed the motive was possibly robbery and not political. The victims were wealthy New Zealanders and were formerly residents of New York. FORMER RESIDENTS OF WELLINGTON VICTIMS OF CLUB ATTACK (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 27. Mr and Mrs Samuel Lewis, who were clubbed at Jerusalem, are believed to have resided in Wellington for about 20 years. Mr Lewis was a draper who left New Zealand about 12 years ago.
