THE WEATHER FAIR TO CLOUDY AND WARM
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 27. Following is the official weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds, with east to north-east predominating. Weather fair to cloudy and warm. Seas slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion*forecast:— Weather for the most part fair to cloudy and hazy, with moderate to warm temperatures. Overcast at times, however, in eastern districts, with misty rain in scattered places. General situation.—The pressure is relatively high over New Zealand, but it varies little over the whole of the Tasman and the New Zealand area. _ Winds.—Light to moderate and variable, with south-easterlies predominating at first, but turning later at many places to northeast. Seas. —New Zealand waters, slight to moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, light east to northeast winds predominating, seas slight to moderate. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and dull. There was a cold east wind in the afternoon. At one o’clock this morning the weather was clear and cool, with no wind. The barometer readings for the last three mornings are as follows: — This morning (steady) 29.73 in Monday 29.86 in. Friday 29.61 in.
