HOLIDAY TENNIS TOURNAMENT
A. T. Baird Beaten By A. J. Deaker MAIN FINALS TO BE PLAYED TODAY The second day of the Southland Christmas tournament was played on the Waihopai courts yesterday. The weather showed an improvement on the opening day, and though dull, overhead conditions were favourable tor good tennis. Principal interest was taken in the semi-finals of the mens singles championship. The final of the men’s singles championship will be played this afternoon, beginning at 3.30 o’clock. Other games to be played today are the semi-finals and final of the combined doubles championship, the final of the mens doubles handicap, the semi-finals and final of the combined doubles handicap and the semi-finals and final of the A grade men’s singles handicap. The final of the men’s championship doubles will be played at 2 o’clock. Following are results of games played yesterday:— CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS MEN’S SINGLES Third Round A. T. Baird beat C. H.
