FIXTURES FOR HOLIDAYS
ATTRACTIONS FOR FORTNIGHT RIVERTON CENTENARY, REGATTAS, RACES Many sports fixtures have been arranged in Southland for the next two weeks, the principal attractions being the Riverton centenary celebrations, the Southland Tennis Association’s tournament and the Southland bowling tournament. In addition to these there are regattas, sports meetings and race meetings in various parts of the province. The following is a list of the fixtures for the holiday season: — DECEMBER 25 Tennis: Southland championship tournament. Rifle shooting: Southland championship tournament at Gore. Sports: Edendale and Drummond. DECEMBER 26 Riverton Centenary celebrations. Unveiling of memorial and special church service. DECEMBER 27 Tennis: Southland championship tournament. Riverton Centenary regatta and celebrations. Sports: Balfour and Limehills. Gore Trotting Club’s meeting. Rifle shooting: Southland championships at Gore. DECEMBER 28. Tennis: Southland championship tournament. . Bowling: R.S.A. “Digger” rinks. Riverton Centenary, official opening and banquet; aquatic sports. Sports: Tokanui. Cattle Flat Racing Club’s meeting. Rimu school jubilee. DECEMBER 29 Riverton Centenary sports meeting. Winton Trotting Club’s meeting. Rimu school jubilee. DECEMBER 30 Riverton Centenary; children’s day. Rimu school jubilee. DECEMBER 31 Riverton Centenary. Bowling: Southland New Year singles tournament. JANUARY 1 Riverton Centenary tennis tournament. Bluff regatta. Sports: Tuatapere. Wyndham Racing Club’s meeting. Bowling: Southland New Year rinks. JANUARY 3 Riverton Centenary tennis tournament. Southland Racing Club’s meeting. Bowling: Southland New Year pairs tournament. Sports: Riversdale and Orepuki. JANUARY 4 Riverton Centenary, tennis tournament, old-time picnic and sports. Southland Racing Club’s meeting. Bowling: Final Southland New Year bowling tournament. JANUARY 5 Riverton Centenary bowling tournament and croquet tournament. JANUARY 6 Riverton Centenary bowling and croquet tournament and whippet races. JANUARY 7 Riverton Centenary bowling tournament. JANUARY 8 Riverton Centenary bowling, tennis and croquet tournaments. Sports: Mataura.
