MANAGER OF THEATRE FINED

CHARGE OF OVERCROWDING BUILDING (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, December 22. The overcrowding of the Palace Theatre last Saturday night led to the appearance in the Magistrate s Court of S. Andrews, manager of the theatre, on a charge of allowing persons other than employees to remain sitting in the aisles, contrary to the borough bylaws. A plea of guilty was entered. Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., imposed a fine of £2. The borough solicitor said that two letters of warning had been sent to the previous manager. The Magistrate said the practice was dangerous. It was part of the essential duty of the theatre management to see that the theatre was kept free from obstruction.
