HEAVY SEAS BATTER TRAPPED LINER

THE PRESIDENT HOOVER THREATENED (Received December 20, 7.20 pjn.) MANILA, December 20. Heavy gales and high seas are threatening the destruction of the liner President Hoover, which has been wedged on a reef off Formosa for 10 days, and caused the skeleton crew to abandon the ship. Japanese reports that the vessel is broken in two are not confirmed.
