EXTRA BANK NOTES FOR CHRISTMAS

ENORMOUS DEMANDS BY BRITISH TRADE

(Received December 20, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 20.

The Bank of England has issued £25,000,000 worth of extra notes to meet the enormous demand by the Christmas trade, says The Times. As each note will circulate through several hands, it is reasonable to suggest that £100,000,000 will probably be spent on the festivities. The Mint has issued 4,000,000 George VI threepences and 15,000,000 new sixpences.
