Shearing is well under way on the Canterbury Plains, and now the annual show is over shearing will be commenced on the big back-country stations. These latter slips usually make their appearance at the second sale. Wool received so far is reported to be in good condition. The first consignment of frozen lamb to be transported on the East Coast railway from the Wairoa freezing works to Napier was sent recently. There were two insulated trucks containing 750 carcasses, which were loaded by the Karamea in the Napier roadstead direct for London.
