HIGHER PAY FOR CITY COUNCIL LABOURERS
NEW INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENT IN DUNEDIN (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 7. The terms of the new industrial agreement between the Dunedin City Council and the General Labourers’ Union were discussed by the council and the agreement confirmed. It is of particular interest as it provides for an increase in the basic wage from 2/3 an hour to 2/5 an hour, this representing an advance on the decision of the Arbitration Court. In reply to a question, the chairman of the finance committee said that this rate would be higher than that in operation anywhere else, but he assured the council that there would be no noticeable demand made on the rate-
