GENERAL NOTES The Union Company’s trans-Tasman liner Maunganui arrived at Bluff from Wellington yesterday morning. She loaded mails, timber, flax and general cargo and sailed in the late afternoon for Melbourne. The Blue Star Line vessel Napier Star, was expected to complete her Southland' loading last night and sail for Auckland. At Bluff she loaded 6500 crates of cheese, 1400 boxes of butter, 900 bales of hemp, 200 casks of tallow, 400 packages of sugar of milk, 188 crates of rabbits and a quantity of sundries. The Union Company’s steamer Karetu, which arrived from Sydney on Sunday morning, yesterday discharged Australian I hardwood timber and other cargo and wasj due to finish working last night and sail for Dunedin.

The Union Company’s Karepo left Melbourne on November 29 and is due at Bluff today. She carries a cargo of new season’s dates, ex the Nardana, for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She will also carry 5000 tons of wheat for Bluff.

The tanker Attila, en route from Bahrein Island with bulk motor spirit for the Associated Motorists’ Petrol Company, is now due at Auckland on December 9. She will later complete discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin.

The M.A.N.Z. Line steamer City of Glasgow is due at Dunedin about December 9. The City of Glasgow will also load at Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Auckland, Napier and Wellington and is due at Bluff on December 13. She is to clear Wellington finally on December 21 for New York, Boston, St. John and Halifax.

A third cargo ship has been ordered by the British Steam Ship Company, of London. She will be a sister ship to the Blackheath, which was in Australian waters last year. Another sister-ship, the Beckenham, was launched recently at Dundee. The three vessels will be 9250 tons gross, and will have a service speed of 12 knots. Ships of this company chiefly engage in wheat, timber and phosphate trades.
