MAKING OF JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS
RESOLUTION CARRIED BY N.Z. LAW SOCIETY (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 6. At the quarterly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Law Society the following resolution was carried unanimously:— “That the New Zealand Law Society reaffirms the principle that it is imperative in the interests of the community and for the maintenance of the high standards of the Bench that in the making of judicial appointments only those men should be considered whose experience in the courts and eminence at the bar have qualified them for judicial office.” It was decided to forward a copy of the resolution to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon M. J. Savage) and the Attorney-General (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason).
