CONTESTS OF STEER RIDING

EVENING ATTRACTIONS AT SUMMER SHOW Steer riding contests for which there will be £3O in prize money will be a feature of the evening attractions at the Southland A. and P. Association’s summer show this year. On both the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings the rough riders of the province will be seen pitting their skill and adhesive powers against the manoeuvres of specially-selected steers. The prizes for these events will be £6 for first, £3 for second, £2 for third, £1 for fourth and 10/- for fifth. Apart from the antics of the steers and their riders there will be much to entertain the public. Professional and amateur cycle and flat races, pony trots and a relay race for teams representative of the business houses in Invercargill are all included in the programme. An additional attraction on the Wednesday evening will be a ribbon parade held by the Southland Kennel Club. Band music by the leading bands of the city again will play a prominent part in the entertainment on both evening*.
