SITES FOR HEALTH CAMP
MR CHISHOLM’S APPROVAL
Approval of the two sites at Roxburgh, one of which may on the offer of the Roxburgh Borough Council, be selected for a permanent children’s health camp, was expressed by the Rev. John Chisholm, chairman of the district executive of the New Zealand Health Camp Federation, yesterday. Mr Chisholm inspected the sites recently with Dr T. McKibbin, medical officer of health for the Southland and Otago districts, and considered them the best of any inspected. “While either would be an ideal place for a health camp, I rather prefer the site at the top of the hill overlooking the town,” said Mr Chisholm. “One is only a stone’s throw from the other and the locality is ideal, being in a central position for the two cities. The one I prefer has the motor camp on one side and the tennis courts on the other.” No definite decision would be made known until the choice of the executive had been approved by the DirectorGeneral of Health (Dr M. H. Watt), stated Mr Chisholm. A meeting of the Dominion Advisory Board would be held on December 14 and the matter would be decided then. Mr Chisholm will represent the Southland and Otago districts at the meeting.
