GENERAL NOTES Heavy wind again prevented the departure of the Tamatea yesterday for Milford Sound. Last evening a gale was still blowing and it was impossible to decide when the vessel would sail. Because of a heavy wind on the waterfront yesterday, discharging operations were suspended at 3 p.m. on the Federal liner Sussex. Provided conditions had improved by six o’clock it was intended to start work again at that hour. Watersiders had an unenviable time during the hours before the decision to cease work was reached. The Waikouaiti is expected to reach Bluff from Lyttelton tomorrow and will sail the same day for Sydney. The Karetu, which left Sydney yesterday for Bluff, is due here on November 4 and will sail on completion of discharge for Dunedin. The Union Company’s liner Maunganui was to have reached Melbourne at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. She will sail again for Bluff at 5 p.m. tomorrow and is due here on November 7. The Union Company advises that the Wainui will leave Wellington on Friday for Bluff to load cargo for Wellington, Napier and Gisborne. The vessel is due at Bluff on November 8 and is expected to sail the same day. The Rangitata, which left London on October 14, is reported to have sailed from Cristobal on October 28. She is due at Auckland on November 17. With New York cargo the Westmoreland is now expected at Dunedin today to complete discharge. She is to sail tomorrow for Sydney to commence loading. The Shaw, Savin liner Tainui is now scheduled to clear Auckland finally at 5 p.m. tomorrow for Southampton, London, Hull, and Newcastle-on-Tyne. via the Panama Canal and Kingston. The Union Company has received cabled advice that its motor-ship Hauraki left Los Angeles at 12.30 a.m. on October 25 for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Wellington on November 17 and at Dunedin on November 27. The Federal Company has received advice that the O.S.K. Line motor-ship Melbourne Maru is to leave Kobe on November 30 and Moji on December 1 for Rabaul, Australia, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Dunedin on December 28. at Wellington on January 1, and will clear Auckland on January 10 for Japan, via Sydney and Brisbane. NAUMBURG’S MOVEMENTS The German steamer Naumburg, from Gulf of Mexico ports, is now discharging at Gisborne. From there she will proceed to Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and New Plymouth to complete discharge thence to Australia. The vessel will later return to New Zealand to load wool. She is due at Dunedin on November 11. MOKU MARU REPLACED Advice received by the agents for the Yamdshita Risen Kaisha states that the steamer Moku Maru, expected at Wellington on December 23 on her maiden voyage, has been allotted to another trade. The Moku Maru was previously announced as the last of three ships replacing older vessels in the company’s New Zealand run. The

Chifuku Maru will now continue in the service, and is expected from Miike on December 23.
