SURF LIFE-SAVING
INTEREST IN AUSTRALIAN PROCEDURE (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 31. Considerable interest was taken ip remits relating to Australian procedure at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Surf Live-Saving Association whicl. began on Saturday and was continued today. A remit recommending the adoption of the Australian rules for all competitions for one year with the exception that New Zealand resuscitation methods be retained was lost. On the question of judging, a remit suggesting that Australian methods be given a trial at the next New Zealand championships was. referred to the New Zealand Board of Judges. Messrs P. D. Edwards and V. Allan (Wellington) and H. S. Feast (Canterbury) were appointed selectors of the New Zealand team to participate at the Australian championships in February. The national New Zealand championships are to be held at New Brighton on January 22 and 23. The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Governor-General (Lord Galway); medical advisers, Sir James Elliott and Dr T. H. Pettit; solicitor, Mr W. J. Beveridge; consulting engineer and architect, Mr G. S. Needer; auditor, Mr O. J. Mullins; president, Mr P. E. Coira; deputy-president, Mr W. H. Gorrie; secretary, Mr N. A. Ingram; treasurer, Mr E. J. Jackson; instructor in chief, Mr P. D. Edwards; registrar and publicity officer, Mr H. C. Widford; deelgate to the Dominion Council of the Royal Live-Saving Society, Mr R. P. Round.
