WYNDHAM

SCOTTISH SOCIETY At the monthly meeting of the Wyndham and District St. Andrews Scottish Society, held in the Masonic Social Hall, there was a large attendance of members. Chief D. N. A Macpherson presided. The programme consisted of an address by Major D. F. Leckie (Makarewa) and a concert by a party of Invercargill performers, who were warmly welcomed by the Chief. Major Leckie s address was on the experiences of the New Zealand contingent at the Coronation, and he was given a very attentive The concert programme was as follows' Bagpipe selections, Mr M-Watson; Highland dance, “Seann Triubhais,” Miss Gibbie Watt and Mr lan Watt; recitations, “Bairnies, Cuddle Doon! and “ ’Twas a Mouse,” Miss A. Spencer; vocal solos, “Bonnie Strathyre” and “I’m O’er Young to Marry Yet, Miss N Watt; double sword dance, Miss G. Watt and Mr I. Watt; violin solos, “Humoresque” and “Scottish Melodies, Miss J. Pritchard; vocal solos, “Success to Bonnie Scotland” and * Adieu, Marie,” Major D. F. Leckie; playette, “Glenshugh,” was well presented by Miss M. Lee (“Kate”), Miss A Spencer (“Susan”), Miss Nan Watt (“Jean”), Mr I Watt (“Jock”), and Mr H Lee (“Glenshugh”). The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mrs Watt, and Piper M. Watson played for the dcHlCCl'Sa On the motion of Chieftain W. Frame, jun., a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Major Leckie and the concert party.
