DISEASES AFFECTING TOBACCO LEAF

BOARD’S DECISION TO MAKE GRANT FOR RESEARCH

(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 21. The Tobacco Board recently decided to make a grant for research into diseases affecting tobacco leaf and, more specifically, towards the cost of the establishment of a research station in the Motueka district. Regulations to enable the board to make the grant, and also grants in the future, are issued with a Gazette. The regulations state that the board may apply for moneys for the establishment of research stations and for research into growing, curing, preparation, packing, grading and manufacture of tobacco, also for granting subsidies to foster and develop tobacco growing and manufacturing industries, including the export of leaf.
