MANY LOSE CLAIMS TO SUSTENANCE (Special To The Times) AUCKLAND, October 21. The efforts being made by the employment division of the Labour Department and the Placement Service in Auckland to recruit suitable single men for employment on farms in order to relieve the acute scarcity disclose the fact that large numbers are prepared to forgo their sustenance rather than accept country work. Already it is stated many single men have been classed as “voluntarily unemployed” because of their attitude and, subject to the right of appeal, have thus lost their claims to sustenance.
