The Dunedin Brewery Company has declared an interim dividend of 7 per cent, a year compared with 6 per cent, for last year. COLOMBO TEA SALE (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 20. Mr L. M. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of October 19:— “At yesterday’s auction of 2,250,0001 b common teas were firm to dearer. All other grades were irregular, but steady at the close of the sale. One and threequarter million lb are catalogued for auction next week.”

BURNSIDE STOCK SALE FAT CATTLE VALUES EASIER KEEN COMPETITION FOR SPRING LAMBS (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 20 The fat cattle entry at the Burnside stock sale today numbered 272 head, including only three or four trucks of good bullocks and some prime heifers. Values eased to some extent, but the market was steady, with competition fairly even. Extra prime bullocks made to £2l 2/6, prime £l6 10/~ to £l9, medium £l2 10/- to £l4 10/- and light down to £9. Extra heavy cows and heifers realized to £l4 7/6, prime £ll to £l2, medium £7 to £8 10/and light down to £5 10/-. Extra prime bullocks were worth about £2 2/1001 b, prime £1 18/-. Prime cows and heifers made to £2 1/- and lighter sorts £1 14/-. Competition for store cattle was less keen than at recent sales and values were easier. A good line of three and four-year steers brought up to £9 18/-. There were' 1605 fat sheep forward, including a fair proportion of shorn sheep. There were some extra heavy wethers, but the majority were medium te light, the same applying to the ewe section. All classes were easier. Extra heavy woolly wethers brought to £2 10/-, prime £2 5/- to £2 8/-, medium £1 17/- to £2 2/- and light down to £1 10/-. Prime heavy shorn wethers brought to £1 16/6, prime £1 11/6 to £1 14/-, medium £1 7/- to £1 10/-. Prime heavy shorn ewes realized to £1 10/9, medium £1 3/- to £1 7/-. Prime heavy woolly ewes made from £1 18/- to £2 4/3, medium £1 8/- to £1 12/- and light down to £1 3/-. Competition was keen for the 46 spring lambs forward. Extra prime brought to £1 17/3, prime £1 9/- to £1 13/- and medium £1 5/- to £1 7/-. The yarding of fat pigs totalled only 85 head and in keen competition last week’s rates were maintained. THE ADDINGTON MARKET VALUES WELL MAINTAINED (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, October 20. There were slightly smaller entries at today’s Addington market. Values were well maintained in all sections, except store sheep, where there was an easing for old ewes and their lambs and for hoggets. A line of close on 900 shorn Romney hoggets from the Chatham Islands were a feature of the store market and these sold from 23/— to 26/- for all except a pen of 80 odd. Good ewes and lambs made an even 20/-, but old sorts ranged about 12/- to 14/-. Spring Lambs.—There was a moderate quality lot forward and they sold up to about a lb. Fat Sheep.—There was a smaller entry of 4500 head. All shorn sheep sold well. Wethers made to 36/4 and ewes to 33/10. Most wethers forward were shorn and better sorts sold from 28/- to 33/-. Woolly ewes sold from 35/- to 44/-, medium woolly 31/- to 34/-. Fa.t Cattle.—There were 410 penned. It was a good sale, particularly for light bodies, heavy being a shade easier. Much of the best beef ranged round about 40/-; in cases to 43/-, and good 36/6 to 39/-. Top price for steers was £2O 2/6 and cows £l6 2/-. Good prime steers made from £l5 to £l7, prime light to medium weights £l3 to £l4 15/-, good cows £lO to £ll 10/-, good heifers £lO 15/- to £l2 5/- and rough cows down to £5 5/-. Vealers..—There was a good sale for prime vealers, big plain runners being easier. Store Cattle.—There was a small entry, which met with a keen sale. Two-year-old steers made to £6 1/-, and fattening cows from £4 10/- to £6. Fat Pigs.—There was an average entry and prices were well maintained. Porkers made from 38/6 to £3 7/6; average price a lb 7|d to 8d; baconers

£3 6/6 to £5 12/6, average price a lb 7Jd to Bd. Store Pigs.—Young pigs were in brisk demand. Weaners made from 16/- to 23/-, slips 24/- to 26/-, stores 28/- to 39/-, sows in pig £3 10/- to £5 10/-.
