MONTAGUE SHOW

NEW PROGRAMME FOR TODAY “THIS YEAR OF CARNIVAL” An entirely new programme will be staged by the Montague Show in the Regent Theatre at the matinee this afternoon and again tonight. Last night the bright, spectacular revue “Let’s Go Places” was staged for the last time, the various numbers succeeding each other with swift efficiency with the result that before the audience had ceased applauding one item another was being presented. The company has made such c good impression with “Let’s Go Places” that “This Year of Carnival,” the sparkling revue that opens today, should attract capacity houses. The new production is noted for its scenic and costuming splendour. It opens with a bright carnival scene and is later followed with “Carnival of Chess,” “Carnival in Blue,” “Carnival in Spain,” “Rose Carnival,” and “The Coronation Cai-nival.” Each and every one of these spectacular scenes carries complete changes of brilliant costumes. The magnificent feather frocks used in “Blue Harmony” are carried in special vacuum trunks to prevent damage through climatic conditions. While travelling through the tropics on the way out from England arrangements were made with. the P. and O. Company for a special frigidaire compartment in which to store these valuable properties. George Doonan is the chief fun-maker of “This Year of Carnival” and is ably assisted by Jewel and Warriss, Catherine Stewart, Barbara Vernon and the host of other Montague personalities. Entirely different acts will be presented by the Dawn Sisters, the Two Rogues, the Blenders, Jewel and Warriss, and Alma Mackie, and the famous Darmora Troupe of Hungarian dancers will be seen in a quadrille of 1900—the only successor to the can-can. “This Year of Carnival” provides three hours of entertainment full of laughter .id surprises. The matinee today will start at 2.15 p.m. Box plans are at Begg’s.
