Shootings Continue In Palestine JEWISH MOTOR-CAR AMBUSHED YOUNG TAILOR STABBED BY MOSLEM (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received October 18, 8.15 p.m.) JERUSALEM, October 18. Widespread disorders and shootings continue in Palestine; the casualties include both Jews and Arabs. A Jewish boy aged 11 was killed by shots from brigands in a Yemenite settlement. Other Jews and British subjects came under fire during several spasmodic attacks. An Arab, Kemal Alami, who was recently recruited to the Police Investigation Department, was'shot dfead. Child eye-witnesses told of a young Jewish tailor who was stabbed while sitting in a field reading. The children said an Arab stabbed him five times in the stomach. His condition is critical.
A bus carrying workers to Jerusalem after working at an American quarry near Motza was heavily fired on, but there were no casualties.
A Jewish motor-car travelling from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was ambushed, the shots causing the car to overturn. The driver and four passengers were injured, two seriously. An ambulance arrived and was also fired on. Police replied with a machine-gun, causing some casualties.
The fine of £5OOO imposed on Lydda city in 1936 has been only partially collected, and it has been reimposed. The inhabitants are confined to their houses except for two hours each day.
