NEW ZEALAND TO ATTEND TALKS
NINE-POWER MEETING AT BRUSSELS MR JORDAN AS DELEGATE (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 18. New Zealand is to be represented at the nine-Power conference which is to be held at Brussels on October 30 for the purpose of discussing recent international developments in China. A statement on these lines was made this evening by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), who said the Dominion would be represented by the High Commissioner in London (Mr W. J Jordan). “The New Zealand Govemme..t, said Mr Sa rage, “has received through the British Ambassador to Brussels an invitation from the Belgian Government to be represented at a meeting of the Powers signatory to the ninePower Treaty relating to China, signed at Washington i> February 1922. “New Zealand was one of the original signatories to that treaty, and the object of this month’s meeting is to examine, in accordance with the terms of Article VII, the present Equation in the Far East, and to inquire into methods of bringing the present conflict to a conclusion. The New Zealand Government has accepted the invitation, and h\s arranged to be represented at the meeting by Mr Jordan.”
