Messrs A. H. Thomas and J. F. Thomson (Dunedin) are at the Grand Hotel. Mr J. Trewern, of Wellington, arrived in Invercargill by the midday express yesterday. Messrs E. Nicolls, S. G. Spence and C. B. Stuart and Captain H. A. Dillner (Dunedin) are at the Club Hotel. Mr R. P. Anderson, of Bell Block (New Plymouth), has been appointed to the staff of the research department of Massey Agricultural College. Mr W. A. Pickford, manager of the Government Tourist Bureau at Invercargill, left yesterday morning for Lake Te Anau. He will return to Invercargill next Tuesday. The Rev. T. E. Riddle, who has been a missioner in India for 25 years, has been proposed by the Taranaki Presbytery as the next Moderator of the General Assembly. Mr F. A. Robins, senior supervisor of the telegraph branch at the Chief Post Office, Invercargill, has received notice of his transfer on promotion to the position of supervisor of the telegraph branch at the Chief Post Office, Dunedin.
The position of Registrar of Auckland University College was filled yesterday when Mr Lawrence O. Desborough, of Wellington, was appointed by the College Council to succeed Mr M. R. O’Shea. Mr Desborough was selected from 35 applicants.—Press Association.
Mr’B. V. Beeby, of Christchurch, has been appointed producer of radio plays for the National Broadcasting Service. Mr Beeby is producer for the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society and teache„ speech training privately. He has had considerable experience as producer for professioiial companies as well as experience as an actor. The radio side of his work has included the production of plays for 2BL and 2FC Sydney. He is producer for the Austral Players, of 3YA Christchurch.— Press Association.
Mr E. S. Molony, chief clerk of the Stamp Duties Department, and second assistant registrar of companies at Auckland, has received notice of his appointment as district land registrar and assistant commissioner of stamp duties at Gisborne. Mr Molony joined the Stamp Duties Department at Wellington in 1915, and went to Auckland as chief clerk in 1926. Since 1928 he has been returning officer for the Auckland Central electorate, and the Auckland licensing district, which includes the Auckland Central, West and East electoral districts.
