AVONDALE RACES SPRINT TO TRILLIARCH (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 18. Ideal weather conditions and a fast track favoured the second day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting held at Avondale today. There was a good attendance. The totalizator handled £19,941 compared with £18,923 last year, an increase of £lOlB. The total for the meeting was £51,402 10/- compared with £46,285 last year, an increase of £5117 10/-. Con Fuoco joined Fersen in the lead and they carried on the. running. Fersen and Cori Fuoco came into the straight together. A furlong from the post Jonathan attempted to go through on the rails, but was badly checked. Orate and Trilliarch were in charge entering the straight from Tosh, Tray Bit and Triune. Trilliarch ran on strongly at the finish to score by a length from Tosh, who defeated Tray Bit by a head. Two British amateur cyclists, Victor Mills and Paul Williams, established a world’s record for a tandem (unpaced) of 49 kilometres 991 metres in an hour; they completed the 50 kilometres in 60|min. Harry Hall created an amateur world’s record of 44 kilometres 490 metres in an hour.
